It's the first week of school already and I'm so nervous! Luckily, we started on a Thursday and I only had 2 classes, both of which were cut short as it was only a quick introduction of the class. I also don't have classes on Friday, so I basically only had a day of school for the first "week". The monthly floor inspection for our dorms was on the first day of school, and we were required to be out of our dorms from 10am to 5pm. I spent most of the day with my UH classmates and we sat at a cafe located in the 310 building of my school. This building consisted of all business classes, and it was the newest building on campus as it commemorated the school's 100th anniversary.
I still struggle with military time
Although my classes were all in the same building, it was exhausting going from one class to another because the building was huge with 9 floors. There were also a lot of students waiting at the elevators, making it hard for me to get to class on time. At some point, I just went for the stairs in fear that I'd be late. My first class, Integrating Marketing Communication, had a lot of exchange students and I exchanged my KakaoTalk with some of them. My second class was Organizational Behavior, and that one was more intimidating as there were a majority of Korean students and only a handful of international students.
After classes, we went to the orientation for exchange students and learned about the facilities the school had to offer, and useful information to utilize while we studied abroad. We met up with our buddy groups after orientation and that ended the first day of school.
1st day of school hot dog orientation! ootd
On Friday, we went to Hongdae as a group and ate some good food and took photobooth pictures! I love how many photobooths you can find in Seoul, and how fun they are to take and keep. We walked around the lively Hongdae nightlife and it was a good time.
On Sunday, I went back to Goto Mall with my friend to shop around indoors. Originally, we had plans to go outside, but the rain made us change our agenda. I bought some accessories and necessities. Even though we got rained on when we went over to Hongdae, it was still worth it because I had the best ramen bowl that I've ever eaten that night.
yogurt smoothies at goto mall kakao character store! the best ramen ever
Classes resumed on Monday, and we found a lot of good food places nearby our school as the week went by. My Financial Management class was okay, there were only a few international students. On the other hand, my Marketing Research class had a lot of international students and I talked and made friends with a few of them. I like all my professors for my classes.
It still amazes me how good the food is here and how cheap you can get it as well. I had a lot of fun eating dinner with my UH friend group and our roommates and we took so many photobooth pictures even though it was only the first week. It was generally a pretty chill week of adjusting to school and new food places, so I'm excited to see what comes next!
