Seeing the leaves change colors makes me so happy. Since we don't really get drastic seasonal changes in Hawaii, it's hard to not stop and take pictures of the colorful trees here. Despite the cold, I don't mind going outside if it means that I can see the autumn leaves.
Ever since our midterms were done, we realized that we only had half of our semester left and that we had to do more things while we could. We went out more to eat on the weekdays either before or after class, trying new foods such as Issac Toast, a popular sandwich chain in Korea. The sandwiches were really tasty. On another day we went to a pasta restaurant near our school and that was a great meal as well. And I revisited the Japanese restaurant nearby the school that I really liked the atmosphere of. The owner is always really nice, and I liked how cozy it was in there, perfect since the air was so chilly outside. There's also a tart cafe near our school which I finally got to try this week. My roommate ordered a tangerine and pomegranate-flavored tart while I ordered a muscat and mon blanc tart. They were the perfect sweetness.
During the weekend, we went to Gwangjang Market, a traditional marketplace with plenty of Korean street food to choose from. This was the first time I tried eating san-nakji, which was raw live octopus. It's basically a dish where the tentacles are moving on the plate and the taste is mainly sesame oil. It was really good, much better than what I expected. We also had yukhoe, a seasoned raw beef, and it was so delicious. Both of these dishes were pretty chewy though, which is the only downside because your teeth kind of hurt in the end from chewing. We also had oden, tteobokki, kimbap, and hotteok.
On Sunday, we took a day trip to Busan! When we arrived there, we first went to Cafe Magnate, the cafe owned by Jimin's dad from BTS. The decor of the cafe was very cozy and neat, and the sandwich that I had was really good. Then, we went to the Gamcheon Cultural Village and had a great time eating, shopping, and taking pictures there. Afterward, we went to the Busan Air Cruise and rode a cable car to this nice area with different structures and statues. We arrived near sunset so the sky was a pretty color when we took pictures.
Overall, we had another fun week! It was a nice reward for finishing my midterms.
